Terms of Service

What this service is

Beyond Functioning is educational, general wellness self-reflection content. It is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, crisis care, or a validated psychological test. Your results are a structured way to think about your own experience, not a clinical measurement.

By using Beyond Functioning you agree that you are using it for your own personal reflection, and that it does not create a therapeutic, clinical, or professional relationship between you and Dr. Mala or The Synergy Center.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country right away. In the US, call or text 988.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and to purchase anything. If you are using the free check-in on behalf of a minor, please do so with appropriate adult guidance.

Your account and security

If you believe someone else has access to your account, please contact Beyond Functioning Support at thesynergycenterglobal@gmail.com so we can review the account with you.

Your check-ins, reflections, and progress are stored privately and are visible only to you when signed in.

Please do not enter confidential medical, clinical, or identifying health information in reflection fields or any other free-text area of the app.

Acceptable use

Please use the service the way it is meant to be used.

• Do not resell, redistribute, or publicly republish the content
• Do not share your account so others can access paid content
• Do not attempt to break, scrape, or circumvent the app or its paywalls
• Do not upload unlawful content or content that identifies another person without their consent
• Do not present the content as clinical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment to anyone else

Content and intellectual property

The Beyond Functioning framework, the Synergy Gap concept, the pattern profiles, the Reset and Path curricula, the written and visual content, and the branding are owned by Dr. Mala and The Synergy Center. Your membership gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own reflection while your access is active.

What you write stays yours. Your reflections and check-in responses belong to you, and we do not claim ownership of them.

Payments, renewal, and plans

Prices are shown in US dollars. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store your card details.

Synergy+ monthly ($9.99 per month) and Synergy+ annual ($69 per year) renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal on your account page.

The Full Report ($9.99) and the Founding Synergy+ Lifetime Membership ($99) are one-time purchases.

The Founding Synergy+ Lifetime Membership is limited to the first 100 members. Once that limit is reached the offer closes.

What Lifetime means

Lifetime access means access to the Beyond Functioning Synergy+ core app and included self-guided content library for as long as the service is offered. It does not include every future product, service, course, live program, training, or publication created by Dr. Mala or The Synergy Center.

The following are not automatically included in any plan unless we explicitly say so: individual therapy, coaching, live groups or cohorts, retreats, workshops, certification programs, professional trainings and ce offerings, books, separately sold premium courses or premium programs.

Refunds and cancellation

All sales are final. Purchases are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law, or where there has been a duplicate charge, an unauthorized charge, or a verified technical billing error.

Subscriptions can be canceled at any time to stop future renewal. Cancelling is not the same as requesting a refund. Our full terms are set out on the Refund & Cancellation Policy page, which forms part of these terms.

Changes and termination

We may update the content, features, and pricing of the service over time. If we make a change that materially reduces what an existing paid plan includes, we will tell account holders by email.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If we close a paid account for reasons other than a breach, any remedy will be handled as required by applicable law and by these terms.

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an as-is basis. We do not promise a specific outcome, improvement, or result, and we do not claim that the check-in is a validated psychological instrument.

Nothing in the app is a substitute for care from a qualified health professional. Please talk with one if you are concerned about your mental or physical health.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that any non-waivable consumer protection rights that apply where you live remain in effect.
